Warrants/Records
The main function of the Warrants and Records Division is to administer the
flow of reports and documents that are generated on a daily basis.
The two largest types of paperwork handled by the division are incident reports
and criminal warrants. In addition, the department enters data for accident reports,
warning and traffic citations, and juvenile activity reports. Other tasks performed
by the officers include record checks and monthly statistics for the county's crime rates.
Criminal Warrants-Apprehension Unit
The reporting of crime in Rutherford County increases every year. In
response, the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office created the Criminal Warrants Unit in
1999. The primary duties of this unit include conducting warrant checks and
locating, arresting and transporting the offenders. Over 12,000 active criminal
warrants are served annually.
Civil Warrants Unit
The Civil Warrants Division's primary responsibility is to serve civil papers,
eviction notices, collection notices and to recover property. The employees of this
department are responsible for service 1,200 to 1,500 civil papers each month in a timely
manner. As the county continues to grow, so does the volume of paperwork for this
department. Processing the mounting workload takes time, but team effort provides
the key ingredient in providing a valuable service to Rutherford County.
