Things to Consider before Adopting a Pet

The decision to adopt or purchase a certain breed should be made carefully.  It shouldn't be impulsive.  You are making a commitment for this pet's lifetime; possibly ten years or more.

Find out the positive and negative traits common to a breed, and find one that fits well into your family's lifestyle, personality and environment.

Decide what is important to you:  the pet's size, hair length and grooming requirements, trainability, gentleness with children, effectiveness as a watchdog, active or laid-back personality.

Check out the Websites then read books and magazines to find a breed that seems to be a good match.
