Rutherford County EMS Education Division is responsible for developing and implementing
public education. Most
programs are designed to be proactive and will enhance the overall efforts of the Service's objective of saving lives.
Classes are held for citizens and health care professionals in CPR,
pediatric safety, emergency response, health, drivers education, EMS awareness, and first aid.
The R.E.A.C.T. (Response to Emergencies and Community Teaching) Team provides
"Show and Tells" for all age groups. This
special team also provides health and safety education for children as well as adults. American Safety and
Health Institute First Aid classes are available and taught by experienced Paramedics and EMTs. Contact
Randy White for more information regarding First Aid Classes. Rutherford County EMS is an authorized
training center for the American Heart Association. Healthcare Provider, Heart Saver, and Friends and Family
CPR classes are offered several times throughout the year. Contact Doug Leverette for information
about AHA CPR Courses.
Tommy Brown coordinates medical coverage for
all special events such as parades, concerts, and special events in which large numbers of people are
gathered. Most events are typically staffed with EMTs or Paramedics working overtime.
Rutherford County EMS Paramedics and EMTs also cover local high school football games, horse shows,
street fairs, and The Uncle Dave Macon Days.
The REACT Team is also responsible for media and community relations, advertising,
special projects with local hospitals, and building ties to the medical community.
