The Education Division is responsible for the education, orientation, and training of all EMS employees. The Division also authors standing orders, protocols, and assists in the writing and revisions of policy and procedures. The Division designates Field Training Officers and Preceptors that are responsible for the orientation of new employees and the training of Paramedic and EMT students. Rutherford County EMS is a training site for Middle Tennessee State University and Volunteer State Community College.

In-service training is offered every three months and meets re-licensure requirements for the state of Tennessee. The Division works closely with State EMS office to provide the most up-to-date information possible with the highest standards. Continuing Education Units are provided by Middle Tennessee State University.

Currently the Division offers the following programs:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • International Trauma Life Support (Advanced and Basic levels)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support
  • Ambulance Operations Course
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR and CPR Instructor Courses
  • Domestic Preparedness Courses
