Election Day- November 8, 2005

Town of Smyrna residents who would normally vote outside the town limits in a county-wide election will be assigned to the nearest polling place for this election only. Town of Smyrna residents will be notified where to vote on Election Day by the Rutherford County Election Commission.

NOTE: Town of Smyrna residents may vote at either early voting location during the early voting periods listed above. However, voters must vote at their assigned polling location on Election Day.

Town of Smyrna residents who are not currently registered must register to vote by Monday October 10, 2005 to be eligible to vote.

Registration forms received at the Rutherford County Election Commission office at 1 Public Sq. S. with an October 10 postmark with be accepted. Town of Smyrna residents may also hand deliver registration forms to the Election Commission office by 4:30 p.m. on October 10, 2005. Forms received after October 10, 2005 without an October 10, postmark will be processed after the election.

Early voting election official training date is October 25, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Election Annex, 426 East Vine St. Murfreesboro. Mandatory training for Election Officials scheduled to work on election day is scheduled for November 7, at 1:00 p.m. at the Election Commission Annex located at 426 E. Vine St., Murfreesboro.

The last day to qualify for this election is August 18, 2005 at 12:00 noon. Last day to withdraw is August 25, at 12:00 noon.

A list of candidates and sample ballot will be posted soon thereafter.

The Rutherford County Election Commission will send absentee voting deputies to licensed nursing homes within the town limits of Smyrna on November 2, 2005 for the purpose of assisting, and processing ballots for the full time residents of the institution who are eligible to vote in this election. Election Officials will coordinate with jail officials, determine inmate eligibility, and send absentee voting deputies to the Rutherford County Jail and workhouse on November 1, 2005 to process ballots for inmates eligible to vote in this election.

The MicroVote Infinity electronic voting system will be used for this election.
