NOTICE OF ELECTIONS
RUTHERFORD COUNTY DEMOCRATIC AND REPUBLICAN PRIMARIES
MAY 2, 2006


NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Democratic and Republican Primary Elections will be opened and held Tuesday
May 2, 2006. Party primary winners for the following offices will advance to the August 3, 2006 General Election:

Circuit Court Judge (Part I, II, III, and IV) (16th Judicial District)
Chancellor (16th Judicial District)
District Attorney General (16th Judicial District)
Public Defender (16th Judicial District)
County Mayor
County Trustee
General Sessions Judge (Part I, II, and III)
Juvenile Court Judge
County Sheriff
Circuit Court Clerk
County Clerk
County Register of Deeds

QUALIFYING DEADLINE FOR candidates is February 16, 2006 at 12:00 (NOON). Candidates who desire to qualify must file nominating petitions with the Rutherford County Election Commission.
NOTE: Candidates must file nominating petitions with the County Election Commission within the county of residence. 16th Judicial District candidates (Chancellor, Circuit Court Judge, parts I, II, III, and IV, District Attorney General and Public Defender) must also file a certified copy of the original nominating petition with the Cannon County Election Commission by noon February 16, 2006.

The Rutherford County Election Commission Office issues nominating petitions. Nominating petitions shall be signed by the candidate and twenty-five (25) or more Rutherford County registered voters who are otherwise eligible to vote in this election.

Independent candidates running for any of the above offices in the August General Election must file their nominating petitions and qualify by February 16, 2006 at 12:00 (NOON).

WITHDRAWAL DEADLINE for all candidates to remove their names from the ballot is Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 12:00 (NOON). Withdrawals must be in writing and signed by the candidate.

The last day Rutherford County residents may register to vote for this election is March 31, 2006. By mail registration forms must be postmarked by April 3, 2006 to be eligible to vote in this election. Registration forms received after this deadline will be held and processed after the election. Individuals may register to vote at the Rutherford County Election Commission, Department of Motor Vehicle, Department of Human Services, Health Department, Register of Deeds Office, County Clerk’s Office, Military Recruiting Offices, Department of Veterans Affairs, Public Libraries within Rutherford County, or obtain forms from our internet www.rutherfordcounty.org/election. The last day residents may make alterations to their voter registration records like a name change or address change is April 27, 2006.
