NOTICE OF ELECTION
CITY OF MURFREESBORO
APRIL 18, 2006

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a City of Murfreesboro Election will be opened and held on APRIL 18, 2006 for the purpose of electing: MAYOR, THREE COUNCIL MEMBERS, AND THREE SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS FOR FOUR YEAR TERMS.

QUALIFYING DEADLINE FOR candidates is January 19, 2006 at12:00 (NOON). Candidates who desire to qualify must file nominating petitions with the Rutherford County Election Commission. The Rutherford County Election Commission Office issues nominating petitions. Nominating petitions shall be signed by the candidate and twenty-five (25) or more registered voters who are otherwise eligible to vote in this election.

WITHDRAWAL DEADLINE for all candidates to remove their names from the ballot is Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 12:00 (NOON). Withdrawals must be in writing and signed by the candidate.

REGISTERED VOTERS LIVING IN THE COUNTY PRECINCTS RECENTLY ANNEXED INTO THE CITY OF MURFREESBORO WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE IN THIS ELECTION.

The last day City of Murfreesboro residents may register in person for this election is March 17, 2006. By mail registration forms must be postmarked March 19, 2006 to be eligible to vote in the City of Murfreesboro election. Registration forms hand delivered to the Election Commission at #1 Public Square South, Room 103 on March 19, 2006 and received by 4:30 p.m. will be processed. Registration forms received from City of Murfreesboro residents after this deadline will be held and processed after the election. Individuals may register to vote at the Rutherford County Election Commission, Department of Motor Vehicle, Department of Human Services or the Health Department, Register of Deeds Office, County Clerk’s Office or the Public Libraries within Rutherford County. The last day City of Murfreesboro residents may make alterations to their voter registration records like a name change or address change is April 13, 2006.
