Andre Fresco, Director The mission of the department, in collaboration with state and local government and private health care systems, is to fulfill society's interest in assuring conditions in which people can be healthy through assessment, through policy development or promotion, and through assurance. Assessment is the fundamental role of surveillance, vital records maintenance, and the evaluation of health status, health care and environmental risks to health. Policy development involves conducting community-level planning and priority setting and promotion of policies or programs for the community. Assurance is the development of necessary health services, provision of those which are population-based and facilitation of access to the benefits of health care. |
