BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

APRIL 5, 2000

A. The special session of the Rutherford County Board of Commissioners was called to order by Madam Chairman, Nancy R. Allen at 6:00 p.m. in the Courtroom located on the second floor of the Rutherford County Courthouse in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

C. Commissioner Robert Peay led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

D. Twenty Rutherford County Board of Commissioners were present for the Legislative Meeting.

E. The Board of Commissioners adopted a Resolution authorizing the County Executive, and any and all other necessary County officers, be authorized to enter into and execute on behalf of Rutherford County, Tennessee the Intergovernmental Agreement for the allocation of a portion of any additional county sales tax levy between Rutherford County, the Town of Smyrna and the Cities of Murfreesboro, La Vergne and Eagleville.

F. The Board of Commissioners approved a Resolution for levying an additional sales and use tax in Rutherford County, Tennessee. Sections 67-6-701 through 67-6-712, Tennessee Code Annotated would be amended to levy a local sales and use tax at a rate of two and 75/100 percent (2.75%) if a majority of those voting in the election required by Tennessee Code Annotated 67-6-706 vote for the increase in the tax imposed by this resolution.

G. The Board of Commissioners suspended the Rules to allow for the next item not on the agenda.

H. The Board of Commissioners adopted a Resolution authorizing the County Executive, and any and all other necessary County officers, to enter into and execute on behalf of Rutherford County, Tennessee the sixty day Lease Agreement with Betterbilt Doors & Windows.

I. The Board of Commissioners suspended the Rules to allow Tommy Brown to address the Board regarding a Performance Bond required by the City of Murfreesboro.

J. The Board of Commissioners approved a motion that the County Executive be authorized to sign any papers to initiate the Performance Bond and any renewals required by the City of Murfreesboro.

There being no further business, Madam Chairman, Nancy R. Allen adjourned the Rutherford County Board of Commissioners Legislative Meeting at 6:20 p.m.
