Mission Statement
The Rutherford County Archives seeks to preserve and protect the written documents, past and present, generated by the government offices of Rutherford County, TN. The county records preserved at the archive include judicial proceedings, tax documents, and administrative records. The preservation of most of these records is required by law and serves to protect the rights of citizens. The Rutherford County Archives seeks to make these documents accessible to government agencies, the people of Rutherford County, and the public at large.

Located at 435 Rice Street in Murfreesboro, the archives are a hidden jewel for genealogists and researchers.

The Rutherford County Archives is your source for local history. The archives has been assisting patrons with projects ranging from class work at Middle Tennessee State University to discovering their long lost relative to finding out how many acres were originally located on their farm. The range of research topics is endless. Stop in and see how we can help you.

The staff will be happy to help any researcher examine the documents available. If we can't help you, we will point you in the right direction to find the information you are seeking.
