1917 List of Lawyers 

In Feburary of 1917, B. M. Rucker the Circuit Court Clerk of Rutherford County wrote the Circuit Court Clerks of surrounding counties to inquire regarding lawyers working in their counties.  These letters—those that were returned—were kept in the Circuit Court files and will become part of the Circuit Court Loose Records Collection upon its completion.  The following is a list of all the lawyers working in Bledsoe, Cheatham, Clay, Coffee, Cumberland, Dekalb, Dickson, Giles, Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Lincoln, Macon, Montgomery, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Sequatchie, Smith, Stewart, Trousdale, Wayne, and White counties.

This list is compiled from a set of letters found in the Circuit Court Loose Records Collection.  This collection is in the first stages of processing, a long and time consuming procedure, and is not open to the public.  However we thought we would go ahead and post this list because of its historical value.
